Overview and History

Yogi Bhajan always said that his mission was not to gather students but to create teachers. For many years he personally trained and guided us toward becoming Teachers for the Aquarian Age. In the early 90s, he told us it was time to create a system for training teachers that would be internationally recognized and would carry out this sacred mission for generations to come.

He established a three stage framework, calling it The Aquarian Teacher Training Program. He then called upon teachers from around the world and gave them the responsibility to establish the details of the program curriculum, guidelines and standards.
This group of experienced and dedicated trainers from around the world worked long and hard and, in a truly collaborative effort, created the Level One Program and Manual. This same group has continued to meet twice a year to lay the groundwork for the Level Two and Level Three programs, establish the Trainer Academy in order to train and certify new trainers, and give direction and advise on all issues regarding Teacher Training.

Known by several names over the years, this team currently functions as the Teacher Trainer Executive Committee (TTEC). The TTEC advises KRI in any and all Teacher Training issues. In practice, all policies, principles and programs are guided and established by the TTEC. The members of TTEC represent the psyche of the “elders” of our trainer community who have dedicated their lives to living and spreading the teachings of Yogi Bhajan. Their combined experience has been paramount in identifying the key Teacher Training principles which reflect the legacy of Yogi Bhajan and his teachings.

The members continue to donate their resources and their time by traveling to meet twice a year. However, to meet the pressures of the time, TTEC is developing working committees that support ongoing projects or oversee critical areas, enabling it to reach out to a wider community of trainers and invite them to share their experience, expertise and consciousness in building a Teacher Training Program and Trainer Academy which fulfills the mission of Yogi Bhajan, and creates teachers of consciousness for generations to come.
